What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Provide quality training sessions with energy and enthusiasm!
- Develop technical practice in their athletes programs which decrease risk i.e. space, speed and height awareness, landings, control of class, cooperation with others and determine athlete readiness for level of activity.
- Display coaching competency in making effective use of theoretical and technical knowledge.
- Use training time to full advantage. i.e. effective use of equipment, effective coaching applications such as group work, stations, rotations and circuits: effective communication to reduce listening and increase activity.
- Come prepare to teach with written lessons plans as directed by your Team lead Coach. Evaluate and make notes after class each class. (Video resources are available for all of the skills you will need to teach and develop) training by our head coach and/or Senior team lead is provided.
- Record and maintain attendance record and progress of your classes, including notation on risk management and prevention.
- Complete administrative documents accurate and on time i.e. time-sheets, evaluation, reports etc. (our system is based on a continuous skill assessment and follows our gymnastics curriculum).
Education, Skills and Experience
Your education and experience include:
- Preferred level 1 certified coach or willing to obtain the NCCP certification within a year (we pay for your training).
- Or a Physical Education – Kinesiology year 2 student with 1 year working experience with children in previous sports roles and willing to pursue gymnastics certification within a year.
- Strong class management skills and understanding of physical literacy.
- Great multi-tasker with experience in coaching circuit-based gymnastics classes.
- Understanding how to provide constant constructive feedback, making course adjustments and providing encouragement to help our athletes to achieve their personal best.
- Ability to adapt to our level system, follow lessons plans and adjust lessons plans if required.
- Athletic minded with healthy life style.
- Strong role model in and out of the gym that loves to work with kids!
Required Certifications
Include an intro to required certifications.
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Respect in Sports
